Le Rèleve
Le Rèleve is an amazing boutique hotel with an awesome bar & restaurant below. We’ve featured them in our best natural wine & cocktail bar in Marseille guide as it’s definitely worth a visit if you like good food and drink. Situated in the trendy 7th arrondissement, the hotel is surrounded by amazing bars and restaurants (including plenty of great seafood restaurants) where real locals go.

The hotel itself is small with only 4 rooms – each with a different colour theme. The decor is wonderfully well thought, it’s warm yet bright and very Mediterranean. The rooms have a vintage touch yet are modern and refined with individual touches that work harmoniously together. Prices start from €150 per night and breakfast is included in the room rates.

Le Petit Nice Passedat
If you want a seaside stay in a luxury 5* hotel then Le Petit Nice Passedat is such a good choice. A beautiful old hotel dating back to 1917, Le Petit Nice Passedat is full of vintage charm but with modern, designer rooms. Make sure you book a room with a sea view as the panoramic view out is stunning.
Apart from the incredible luxury hotel, spa and pool there’s also a superb 3 Michelin Star restaurant to dine at. The restaurant is headed up by Chef Gerald Passedat and the food is all about local seafood. Absolutely worth a stay if you’re a food and drink lover with a decent budget!

Maison Montgrand
Maison Montgrand is a boutique hotel located right next to the Vieux Port in central Marseille. Affordable, light and airy, it’s a great choice if you want a cosy, designer hotel to stay at for a weekend away. The hotel is made up of two traditional 18th century townhouses with a vast interior garden. The reception area features a concept store style section with a bar & restaurant, spa and tea room available. It’s slightly chaotic but in a very good way and the garden has plenty of space for you to enjoy a tea, coffee or a glass of wine from their ‘direct from the producer’ corner.
The rooms are comfortable and decorated in a minimal Scandinavian style with basic wooden shelves for storage. The majority don’t have terraces but some on the higher floors do. Their continental breakfast isn’t included and comes in at €11 and is decent – expect artisan comté cheese, charcuterie and fresh patisserie.

Hôtel La Résidence du Vieux-Port
This 4* star hotel is superbly located just next to the Vieux Port. You can’t get a better location that this in terms of access to public transport, ferries and of course the famous old town. The retro styled hotel lobby is very 60/70s with floral wall paper and large comfy arm chairs from the era. It’s classic boutique hotel but on a larger scale – intimate, well thought out and effortlessly stylish.
There are 48 rooms in the hotel are of varying sizes with the largest suites being around 50m2. The Deluxe rooms all have incredible views out across the port and to the Basilica of Notre-Dame of la Garde. Upgrade to the Deluxe Prestige and you’ll be treated to a balcony which is a perfect spot to enjoy a continental breakfast from.

Mama Shelter
Mama Shelter Marseille is another hotel from the award winning Mama Shelter brand. With hotels all across France and Europe, they set up shop in Marseille in early 2020 and has been an extremely popular budget hotel in the city. Located to the east of the old port at around a 20 minute walk, its location isn’t perhaps the best but the surrounding neighbourhood is calm and safe. The eclectically themed hotel is, like the other in the brands portfolio, urban-chic with industrial accents throughout the rooms and shared spaces.
The rooms vary in size but all come with excellent ammenities including 49” TVs (with free movies), mini bars and organic toiletries. Their budget prices for the smaller rooms do match the size but the clever design makes up for it and is fine for a couple for a weekend. If you’re hungry then you’re in for a treat – the diverse menu features fun sharing food from different cuisines.
