Looking for the best beach clubs in Nice in the South of France? My guide has the best spots for you to spend a relaxing day on the beautiful Promenade des Anglais.
Unlike Cannes and Saint Tropez, Nice has a lot more, cheaper and more accessible beach clubs. Even in high season, it’s generally pretty easy to walk in and get a sunlounger and a table for lunch. With views across the stunning turquoise waters in the Baie des Anges, a day on the beach is a must-do when you’re visiting Nice!
Psst. Travelling around the French Riviera and want more beach club recommendations? Check out my guide to the best beach clubs in Saint-Tropez, Antibes and Cannes.
My Favourite Private Beaches in Nice
The beach clubs listed are just my own personal recommendations are are listed in no particular order. I go to Nice pretty much every year for a few days so I’ve had the chance to check them all out!
Good to Know: The beach in Nice is pebbly (with no sand!) and the majority of beach clubs don’t have any mats going into the sea. I’d recommend that you buy waterproof shoes otherwise it’s painful and tricky getting in and out of the sea!
Hotel Amour Plage
Hotel Amour Plage is probably my personal favourite beach club in Nice. It’s stylish, unfussy and has some great food. Located half way down the Promenade des Anglais, it’s about a 20 minute walk from the old town. Be wary that this walk has little to no shade!
The beach club is huge, I’d imagine there are about 200+ sunloungers on the beach. Service is rapid and friendly which is impressive given the size of the beach area.
Similar to the excellent Hotel Amour in the city, the restaurant serves some great (albeit simpler) Greek-Mediterranean food. Expect grilled halloumi, vitello tonnato, sea bream tartare and Gaspacho. It’s the unfussy, fresh and exactly the kind of food you want to eat on the beach.

Plage Beau Rivage
The pretty, retro Plage Beau Rivage is the closest beach club from the old town and is a great family option for a day out on the beach. It’s one of the biggest beach clubs on the promenade with 300+ sunloungers. Despite the size, the beach drinks and food service is rapid.
Their 70s, old fashioned theme is rather charming and certainly the absolute opposite of the beach clubs you’ll find else where in the Riviera! Director chairs and dark wooden sunloungers certainly fit the vibe.
For me the highlight is their food. It’s not cheap but they’ve got a large, diverse menu with plenty of great produce on show. It’s mainly Provençal food with other Mediterranean influences. Locally caught, wild seabass (loup) is cooked in a salt crust and is perfect for two people. They’ve also got a smaller tapas menu if you’re wanting to snack during the day.
What to know before visiting
- You can reserve a table online but I’d recommend calling to book sunlounger
- Their restaurant is open for lunch and dinner

Castel Plage
Castel Plage is another great beach club in Nice. Located on the very eastern edge of the beach, it’s right next to the old town and the Colline du Château.
The open restaurant area is slightly raised above the beach giving probably one of the best views across the Baie des Anges.
On the menu are the usual suspects with plenty of fresh, locally caught fish (cod, seabass, and sea bream). It is a little pricey but the cooking and presentation is solid.
For the beach area, it’s relatively narrow compared to others which does have the benefit of having a better view out to the bay if you’re in the 3rd or 4th row. Service is very good and extremely friendly!

Bocca Mar
Close to the old town of Nice, you’ll find an excellent modern Mediterranean beach club, Bocca Mar. One of the more refined options on the Promenade, they offer some great food with a relaxed beach area.
It’s a good option if really don’t want to walk too far to from the Old Town and they have the brilliant option of reserving both tables and sunloungers on their website.
In terms of the beach area, it’s very family friendly. Their sunloungers are good quality, comfortable and they come with a decent service.
The food’s probably the highlight for me, it’s one of the priciest options on the beach but it’s very good. I’d say it’s a mix of French and Italian cuisine with plenty of fish and seafood. Their fritto-misto is delicious and I would recommend trying their octopus skewers.
