Paris has so many great wine bars, it’s difficult to keep up with new spots constantly popping up around the city.
I’ve been living in Paris over 8 years and I’m always looking out for the best wine bars in the city. So where are the best? Honestly it’s very subjective and there are a lot in Paris. This list has a round-up of my favourite wine bars across the city.
Book mark as this list will be updated frequently!
Aux Deux Amis
Aux Deux Amis probably has to be my favorite wine bar in Paris. I’ve spent countless, incredible nights in this intimate, friendly and very authentic Parisian spot.
If you like good, natural wine paid with some really excellent cured ham and incredible food, then Aux Deux Amis is a must visit.
Nestled on the side of rue Oberkampf in the trendy 11th arrondissement, it’s very much a haven for locals who know their wine.
The retro decor, vintage copper bar and an awesome playlist make for a seriously cool vibe. It gets hectic on weekends yet despite the crowds, the service is very good.
Their wine list is small yet very good. The focus is on small producer, natural wines ranging from classically tasting whites to some awesome, chillable reds. They offer a small selection of white, red and orange wines by the glass and a much larger selection by the bottle.
Go hungry and enjoy some of their awesome charcuterie sliced fresh to order. There’s smoked ox tongue, jamón ibérico and saucisson. When the kitchen opens there’s some fantastic seasonal small sharing plates on offer. Their classic beef tartare is fantastic as well as steak, fish and duck grilled on their charcoal BBQ.
What to know before you visit
- Book ahead of time for weekends (you need to call)

La Cave du Paul Bert
The Bistro Paul Bert is one of the best and one of my favorite bistros in Paris. Their wine offering is superb and luckily they have a separate wine bar just next door for those who just want a glass.
Intimate, small and very cosy, the Cave du Paul Bert is a fantastic spot to grab a glass of incredible wine. Just like the bistro, they have a long list of some very good small producer wines from classical and natural vineyards. They have killer wines from Jean-Yves Péron and Fanny Sabre – spend a bit and you’ll be in for a treat.
Right at the back you’ll find a tiny kitchen that hosts guest chefs for a couple of weeks or months at a time. You can expect a variety of small, sharing plates that vary with the chef. Oysters, scallops, beef tartare – it’s perfect for a snack, apéro or even dinner.
What to know before you visit
- Closed Sundays and Mondays
- Open 5pm – midnight
- They don’t take reservations
- There’s very little seating, there’s mainly counter and bar spots

Chez Nous
Despite being located in the literal very centre of the city, in distinctly touristic area, Chez Nous is an excellent wine bar to check out.
Literally right next to the famous Pont Neuf bridge and a stone’s throw from the Louvre, it’s perfect place to stop off at after a long day of sight-seeing.
The small wine bar has stool seating only and in the summer months, a large terrace outside. It’s cosy, friendly and very un-elitist. Not sure what you’re after? The staff will help you choose the perfect wine for you.
What’s on offer? Well it’s mainly natural wine although their selection is a lot less ‘funky’ than other wine bars in the capital. Expect plenty of classical tasting wines and they have some bangers.
Don’t expect to get a meal at Chez Nous – it’s charcuterie and cheese only here but their selection is very very good.
What to know before you visit
- Open every day from 6pm
- They don’t take reservations
- I’d advise to come when they open on weekends – it’s a small bar and it’s very popular

Le Baron Rouge
Another one of my absolute favorite spots in the capital, Le Baron Rouge is another really fun, hectic yet distinctly Parisian wine bar. Despite its increased popularity with tourists, it’s certainly another ‘where the locals go’ kinda spots.
There’s only a handful of tables and seats in Le Baron Rouge so expect to stand when it gets really busy!
Their wine selection is huge and includes some very good classic, organic and natural/low-sulphate wines. Again, like many great wine bars, you’ll just need to ask for advice and they’ll find something that matches your palate.
Hungry? They have an awesome array of charcuterie and cheese on offer. Try their saucisson à l’ai fumé – trust me, it’s awesome. Between October – April they also have oysters on offer outside on Sundays.
What to know before visiting
- You can’t reserve – it’s first come, first serve
- There’s very limited seating so come early or prepare to stand
- Opening times vary each day but open all day from 10am-9:30pm on Saturdays

La Buvette
La Buvette is a great little wine shop and bar in the 11th arrondissement close to the Père-Lachaise cemetery.
It’s the smallest in the list but the friendly little bar is well worth a trip over to the district if you’re on the right bank.
There’s a fantastic, curated wine selection that include some very interesting bottles (both natural and organic) from small producers.
It’s a perfect spot for apéro (a drink before dinner) – grab a glass (or a bottle) and try their incredible white beans dressed with a zingy lemon dressing – trust me, they’re awesome.
What to know before visiting
- You can’t reserve – it’s first come, first serve
- There’s very limited seating

Dix Visions de la Joie
Up in the north east of the city, in the 20th arrondissement (where I live!) there’s a real hidden gem that’s you won’t find on social media. Dix Visions de la Joie (a sort of play on words in French for Joy Division), is a great wine bar right next to the Jourdain metro station.
Given the location you won’t run into many tourists and it’s a great spot to feel the real Paris. It’s also a 10 minute walk from the incredible Belleville neighbourhood which is home to some great Asian restaurants (and perfect for dinner!).
The bar has a warm, 70s retro decor and the service is mega friendly. It’s popular so arrive early on weekends to get a table.
Their wine selection is very good and they serve pretty much only natural wine. Again, you’ll need to tell them what you like and they’ll get something that matches your tastes. In my experience their wine by the glass changes weekly.
Finally they have a small kitchen in the back that pumps out some really interesting small sharing plates. Oysters, beef tartare and fried chicken are all on offer.
What to know before you visit
- You can reserve tables (SMS only)
- Closed Sundays
- Open till late

Déviant
In the very trendy 8th arrondissement, on a side street you’ll find a fantastic but fairly unusual bar for Paris. Unlike most cafés or wine bars, Déviant is fully open to the street which gives a very Spanish style bar vibe.
It’s standing room only although they have added tables on their summer terrace.
It’s natural wine only here and boy is their selection awesome. Their menu is curated and changes frequently. There’s not only wine from France here, expect plenty of great wine from Italy and Spain too.
The kitchen (which is in the bar) pumps out some great small sharing plates such as roast duck with jus and hand cut beef tartare.
What to know before you visit
- Closed on Mondays
- You can reserve in their small restaurant area (though it doesn’t have the same atmosphere as the bar section!)
