Local’s Guide to the Best Fondue Restaurants in Paris

Fondue is a French winter classic dish and it’s perfect to eat in the colder months. Luckily there are some great fondue restaurants in Paris to get your fix. This guide features my favorite fondue restaurants in the city – all in no particular order.

Where to Eat Fondue in Paris

Fondue is a classic dish from the Savoyard region and there’s plenty of great restaurants serving it up in Paris. It’s great fun to eat and makes for a perfect sharing meal! Wether you’re in the mood for cheese fondue or beef fondue (fondue bourguignonne) there’s some great options to get your fix.

Le Refuge des Fondus

Le Refuge des Fondus is the fondue restaurant in Paris if you’re looking for a really fun evening out with friends. It’s the famous restaurant serving wine in baby bottles and despite it’s touristic appeal, it’s genuinely great fun.

The tiny fondue restaurant is nestled in a small side street surrounded by bars at the bottom of the Sacre-Cœur in Montmartre. It’s a very convivial restaurant with two rows of tables on each side of the tiny dining room.

There’s only 1 menu at Le Refuge and it includes a Kir Royal with a platter of snacks (olives, cheese and charcuterie) followed by a choice of either cheese or beef fondue.

The cheese fondue is genuinely very good and naturally very generous in quantity. I will admit the wine being served in baby bottles is very fun but purists might want to ask for a glass!

What to know before visiting

  • You need to reserve in advance
  • It’s very convivial and you’ll be sat immediately next to someone else

Le Chalet Savoyard

Another great option to get fondue and other Savoyard classics is Le Chalet Savoyard. Located on the bustling rue de Charonne in the 11th arrondissement, it’s ideal if you’re wanting to hit up some of the bars in Bastille after dinner.

The decor and ambiance is distinctly alpine with wooden panelling and cosy lighting – it’s a very nice place to be.

You’ve got a lot of options for fondue here and including versions with different cheeses (Saint-Marcellin, Roquefort and Roblochon for example). I’d go with the base Savoyard fondue unless you’re feeling like something different.

Other options include the famous French Raclette (cheese melted onto boiled potatoes, charcuterie and cornichons – it’s delicious), Pierrade and Tartiflette.

It’s not the cheapest restaurant but its well done and great if you want to get your fondue fix!

  • You can reserve online
  • They’re open every day for lunch and dinner

Les Fondus de la Raclette

Les Fondus de la Raclette is, as you could guess from the name, a restaurant specialising in fondue and raclette. It’s a charming little spot close to the Place de la République.

The restaurant is cosy with chalet style wood panelling plenty of alpine decor on the walls. One of the highlights is their electric BBQs that are inbuilt into the tables. There’s no messing around with candles to keep your fondue melty – it’s all done automatically.

Their Savoyard fondue is delicious and is made with 3 cheeses from Savoyard (Abondance, Beaufort and Meule de Savoie). It’s delicious, very generous and well priced (€24 per person).

After something else? Well the table BBQ means you can grill your own beef – just like Korean BBQ. If you go for the raclette you’ll be given a small frying pan to melt your cheese – it’s great fun!

What to know before visiting

  • You can reserve online
  • They’re open for dinner only Tuesday to Friday and lunch and dinner Saturday to Monday.
  • They have a €18.50 lunch menu that’s very good value!
