If you’re looking for the best burgers in Paris and want to know the places to get them in the city of light then read on. My round-up contains the spots where you’ll get the most amazing smash, chicken and vegan burgers in the city.
Which are the best burgers in Paris? There’s plenty of overpriced, dry, bloated burgers in the city and you’ll want to avoid these. My list contains spots that I’ve tried and tested and mainly come from recommendations from foodie and chef friends.
Quick Burger Guide
🏅 My favorite smash burger: Dumbo. It’s arguable Paris’ best burger – just really, really well done. Textually perfect, it hits every time.
🍔 Medium patty, lots of texture & sloppy sauce: Baby Love Burger. Their burgers are in between a thick patty and a smash burger with a bit of salad and a great house burger sauce.
🍟 Traditional, thick patty burgers: PNY. One of the first gourmet burger chains in Paris.
🍽 XL smash burgers: Junk. Want a smash burger but just, bigger? Junk’s just behind Dumbo in my opinion but they have the advantage of offering *much* more customisation.
💶 The cheapest burger in Paris: Mangez et cassez-vous. The cheap and cheerful option but very good considering the incredibly low price point.
Our Favourite Burgers in Paris France
My list contains a mix of the best burgers in Paris. There’s range of burger styles – smash, thick-patty, fried chicken and vegan & vegetarian friendly. There’s plenty of new spots popping up in Paris so this guide will be updated regularly.
Dumbo
Dumbo is without a doubt the most well known smash burger joint in the city and my personal favourite. Incredibly popular on social media for good reason, Dumbo pump out fantastic smash burgers.
Their burgers are the definition of the ‘whole is more than the sum of its parts’. Yes, it’s a real smash burger – their patties are smashed really, really thin. You’ll see the epic, crispy edges barely holding together.
For me, it’s textually perfect, the two dry-aged beef patties are mega crispy contrasting so nicely with the melty American cheese, house sauce and hits of acidity from chopped onions and pickles. They use potato buns which hold up to the slop (unlike a brioche) – it’s light and perfectly toasted.
For the vegetarians, they also do a veggie burger although I haven’t tried it.
Late 2024 update: with a total of 4 restaurants across Paris, you won’t find yourself queueing anymore. They’ve also apparently improved their stock situation so no more worries about them selling out before close.
I also noticed their fries have changed – they’re incredible crispy on the outside. I asked a manager and apparently they’re cooked twice and coated with tapioca starch before the final fry. Slightly strange to do with this with fries but they’re darn good.

Junk
Another great smash burger joint in Paris, Junk is definitely one to try out. Compared to Dumbo they have a lot more customisation and their menu is significantly bigger.
Like Dumbo, they do a great job at delivering a proper smash burger. Their patties have superb texture, even after sitting in the closed, insulated packaging. I even found their patties to have even crispier edges than Dumbos. Similarly, it’s a simple recipe. There’s house burger sauce (which I find almost similar to a Big Mac sauce), American cheese, onion and pickle.
They use brioche buns which are light, fluffy although I’m not convinced if they’ll stand up to all that sauce if you get it delivered.
On the menu are the standard cheese smash burgers in different formats – from S to XXL. These sizes don’t refer to the diameter of the patties, it’s the amount of patties you get.
The S version has 1 smashed patty (pictured) whereas the XXL has an incredible 5 patties. I’d say anything over the L is overkill.
Aside from the standard cheese burgers, Junk also offer as seasonal burger (truffled smash at the time of writing) and a vegetarian burger. They also offer some lovely breaded fried chicken popcorn bites and their house fries are great.

Baby Love Burger
Baby Love Burger is a relatively new Parisian setup serving up some very good and, in my opinion, underrated burgers. Started by two restauranteurs on the boogie rue Saint-Maur in the 11th arrondissement, they quickly opened another restaurant in the Marais.
So what’s their burger like? It’s a kind of cross over between a smash burger and a traditional burger. Their patties are medium-thin resulting in a juicy patty with a killer crust. There’s no tomato here – just thin slicked onion and crunchy lettuce. Thin slices of cheddar are melty and their house burger sauce is very good.
Their fries are traditional, skin on, thin cut French fries and they’re incredibly generous. Think Five Guys – 1 portion is enough for 2 people.
In terms of options you can go from 1 (pictured) to 3 patties (€9-15) and there’s a fried chicken + vegetarian options.
Both restaurants have a decent amount of seating as well which is a big plus!

63 Rue Saint-Maur, 75011
105 Rue Vieille du Temple, 75003

PNY
One of the creators of the Parisian gourmet burger movement, PNY is still going strong today. I really like their burgers and they’re a very good option if you’re in the mood for thicker, juicer patties cooked medium-rare. Currently offering franchises, the chain has expanded all over France and has an incredible 8 locations in Paris.
Their restaurants each have a fun, interesting theme and are designed very well. Other than the aesthetic, the only difference between locations is that each restaurant has their own ‘special’ burger.
Their menu is relatively simple with 8 different burgers on offer. Their buns are all the same – it’s just the toppings and protein that changes. I do like that they make good use of plenty of smoked bacon in their burgers and their house sauces are awesome.
Their fried chicken burger is awesome and is glazed in hot sauce – just like in Nashville. Finally for vegetarians there are two options! There’s either a vegetarian patty or a breaded and fried portobello mushroom version.

Mangez et Cassez Vous
Mangez et Cassez Vous are an awesome chain of no frills, super cheap burgers. If you’re on a budget but still want a decent burger then this is the place for you. The name, meaning eat and leave in English does reflect the very quick service that you get.
All their burgers are priced at at incredible €3.60 but unfortunately does seem to be rising frequently in-line with inflation. They currently have 4 restaurants in the city and note that some don’t have much or any seating at all.
On the burger side there’s around 6 options and are generally all very ‘French’ with different cheeses and sauces.
The toppings are generous, well balanced and all work well together. There’s no high end brioche bun here and it’s not a smash burger. Bread wise, it’s a simple white milk bun and the patty is a decent thickness.
