The Best Fried Chicken in Paris
The following restaurants are our favourite spots to get fried chicken in Paris and are in no particular order. They are usual go to spots if we have a specific craving and are all tried and tested.
Buck
Buck is a new, independent American-style fried chicken restaurant and it’s awesome. Passionate owners Balthus Levin and Alexandre Slama originally started their fried chicken adventure in dark kitchens and at cooking at events before finally getting their own address. Located on rue de la Forge Royale in the 11th arrondissement close to the famous rue de Charonne, it’s conveniently next to some awesome craft cocktail bars and pubs for after. Their chicken is superb and very worth a detour to the 11th (even their Google reviews are practically spotless). They have tenders, thigh or leg on offer which is brined in lactose-free buttermilk and then breaded in their house seasoned flour. Get a combo and you can choose from their spicy rice or super crispy sweet potato fries.
Buck have a low waste philosophy and their chicken carcasses are simmered for hours producing a delicious chicken soup. Finally, they have a great drinks selection including some awesome natural wine.

Mao Fry
Following the success of Mao Dumpling Bar (featured in our best asian restaurants Paris guide), Mao Fry opened becoming their 2nd restaurant. Dedicated to Taiwanese style fried chicken, it’s the spot to get my popcorn chicken fix. Their menu is simple – you can choose from either their XXL fried chicken steak by itself or in a bowl with rice or one of their epic burgers. Their chicken steaks are very well seasoned with their in-house spice blend resulting in that distinctive Taiwanese popcorn chicken flavour. Order the XXL steak in a bowl and it’ll come with rice, sesame slaw and home pickles – delicious.

Street Bangkok Fry Temple
Under the Street Bangkok umbrella (including Thai Market and Roast Club), Fry Temple specialises in pan-Asian style fried chicken. Currently they have 2 Fry Temple restaurants in the capital with each having the same excellent menu. On the fried chicken side there’s either brined & double fried chicken legs or thighs served with either rice, Asian fries and a choice of sauce. The legs are huge and even when ordered take-out remain mind bogglingly juicy. They’ve also got an epic fried chicken burger which, when ordered hot, is really spicy. For those in your group not wanting fried chicken, there’s also Thai curries, grilled chicken and Pad Thai.

Popeyes
Purists and snobbish foodies might be surprised to see Popeyes in this list but I’ll be honest, I’m a big fan. With 3 outlets already open in the capital and huge queues for weeks after opening their first restaurant, it’s been a big hit with Parisians. Sure it’s a highly commercial, franchised operation but their chicken is good. Well brined, juicy and fresh out of the fryer (which can’t be said for a lot of fried chicken joints), it’s become a go-to spot of mine. Their tenders are admittedly, very large but the bread sticks well and is extremely craggy. Hot wings are well spiced and extremely juicy inside. Their sauce selection is decent but don’t expect gravy here — they’re all in sealed plastic containers. Open non-stop until late, it’s a reliable fast food option for those in need of some crispy chicken.

Krispy
If you’re on the hunt for Korean Fried Chicken then Krispy is a great option. Located near the Montmartre Cemetery, Krispy is all about dirty, street-food style fried chicken. The queues outside peak times speak for themselves, it’s that good. The chicken here is breast only, marinated, breaded and fried to perfection. The portions are generous and the menus include sides and different sauces. Sauces include traditional spicy sauce, butter honey and Korean style BBQ sauce. Orices are reasonable and trust me, you get a lot for your money. The bright, white tiled interior is on the cramped side so be warned that you may need have to take away.
