Despite it being at no. 10 spot in the list of the most French food, it’s not actually French. Moules frites is actually a Belgian dish that slipped across the border into Northern France. It’s now frequently found on menus across bistros in Paris and the rest of the country.
Moules frites is a delicious, cheap and sustainable dish to eat. Popular around seaside towns, a classic Moules Marinières served with crispy French fries is a beautiful thing to eat on vacation.

Atlas
Atlas is a French bistro located on the popular Rue de Sein in the 6th arrondissement. Perfectly located in-between the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Pont Neuf, it’s a good lunch spot in-between sight-seeing.
The wide, open, covered terrace is perfect for a bit of people watching whilst you enjoy a glass of chablis and moules frites or a seafood platter! Be warned, it is on the pricier side for Paris and you most likely won’t be sat amongst locals.

Au Trappiste
If you’re a beer fan Au Trappiste is for you. Serving up a huge selection of Belgian & French craft beers along side solid steaks and moules frites.
It’s located bang in the middle of the city and is a stones throw away from the river Seine. A perfect spot for lunch or dinner when seeing the sights in the centre ville.

Léon
Léon is a reliable restaurant chain that primarily serve moules frites. Founded in the 1980s buy a Belgian restauranteur, Léon quickly became successful. They currently have 4 restaurants in central Paris and offer well priced, solid food.
They offer 7 different variations of moules frites including a curry and ‘Mediterranean’ version with pesto. There’s also salmon tartare, fish and chips and fried fish burgers on the menu. Be warned that they are a chain so don’t expect a charming Parisian terrace experience!

Huguette
Around the corner from Atlas lies Huguette on rue de Seine. A popular seafood restaurant, Huguette for me is a great spot to get some oysters & your moules frites on a quiet street during the warmer months.
Their moules frites aren’t cheap but they’re very good and you’ll get to wash them down with a glass of one their excellent white wines.

La Mascotte
If you’re in the north of city and visiting Montmartre, La Mascotte is a great option. Located on the very popular Rue des Abbesses, it’s a fun spot to enjoy lunch or dinner after visiting the nearby Sacre Cœur.
The restaurant itself is beautiful – the interior is decorated in the classic art nouveau style from the late 1800s. The menu is substantial with a vast array of seafood options on offer. I’d definitely recommend trying some oysters or a platter before you dig into your ‘litre’ of mussels. Their moules frites are a bit pricey but the location makes it very much worth it.
